FOKS, or Federation Open Key Service, is a new system being developed by one of the original creators of Keybase It has many of the same design goals, however it's being developed from the ground up using all new code. The idea seems to be to "build a better Keybase".

If you're using Keybase, this directory can also be accessed as /keybase/public/jms1/foks/.
This is a shell script which downloads the contents of a "directory" in a FOKS key-value store, as files in a directory on the local machine. I think this can be useful as a kind of backup, however if the files contain any sensitive information (and isn't that the whole point, to store things securely?) you need to consider the security of the local directory where the files are downloaded.
